Privacy Policy for ScreenBreathe

ScreenBreathe is designed to help users manage screen time and build healthier device-use habits. ScreenBreathe does not operate a dedicated developer server or database for storing your Google email address, screen-time information, or app preferences. Certain Google services integrated into the app process data as described below.

1. Scope

This Privacy Policy explains how the ScreenBreathe Android application (the "App," "ScreenBreathe," "we," "us," or "our") accesses, uses, stores, and shares information when you use the App. By using ScreenBreathe, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy.

2. Information ScreenBreathe accesses

Google Sign-In information

If you choose to sign in with Google, ScreenBreathe receives the email address associated with the Google account you select. The App uses this email address only to identify you within the App and determine access to premium features. ScreenBreathe stores this email address locally on your device and does not send it to or store it on a developer-operated server.

Google processes information needed to perform authentication under the Google Privacy Policy. ScreenBreathe does not receive your Google password.

Screen-time and app-usage information (Usage Access)

To provide its screen-time features, ScreenBreathe may request Android Usage Access, which allows the App to read information such as which apps are used, usage duration, and related timestamps. ScreenBreathe uses this information only on your device to calculate and display screen-time insights and provide the features you configure. We do not transmit or store this information on a developer-operated server, and we do not use it for advertising.

App-blocking features: Accessibility Service and display-over-other-apps permission

ScreenBreathe's app-blocking, focus-session, and Ghost Screen features work by detecting which app is currently open on your device and, when you have chosen to block that app, displaying a screen overlay so the blocked app cannot be used. To do this, the App may request:

Both permissions are optional and are requested only when you enable app-blocking, focus-session, or parental-control features. You will see an in-app explanation before being directed to the Android settings screen where you grant either permission, and you can revoke either permission at any time in your Android device settings — doing so will disable the corresponding blocking features.

Locally stored preferences

ScreenBreathe may store settings, goals, reminders, feature preferences, premium-entitlement status, and similar App data locally on your device. This data is used to remember your choices and provide App functionality.

3. Advertising and data processed by Google AdMob

ScreenBreathe uses Google AdMob to display advertisements. The Google Mobile Ads SDK may automatically collect and process information off your device, including:

Depending on your region, age, consent choices, device settings, and Google's configuration, ads may be personalized or non-personalized. Google processes this information under its own policies. You can manage advertising privacy choices through your device settings and, where presented, the App's consent controls.

4. Premium subscriptions and Google Play Billing

ScreenBreathe offers optional premium content or features through subscriptions processed by Google Play. Google Play and Google Payments process payment information and the transaction. ScreenBreathe does not directly collect or store your complete payment-card or bank-account details.

The App may receive purchase-related information needed to confirm and provide premium access, such as product or subscription status, purchase token, transaction status, and expiry information. This information is used only to provide, restore, and manage premium access. Google's handling of payment information is described in the Google Payments Privacy Notice.

6. Sharing and sale of information

We do not sell or rent your personal information for money. ScreenBreathe does not share your locally stored Google email address, screen-time information, or Accessibility/overlay data with advertisers. Data may be processed by Google when you use Google Sign-In, Google AdMob, Google Play Billing, or other Google Play services, as necessary to provide those services and under Google's applicable privacy terms.

Some U.S. state privacy laws (such as California's CCPA/CPRA) define "sale" or "sharing" broadly enough that using advertising identifiers with a third-party ad network like AdMob to serve personalized ads may fall within that definition, even though no money changes hands. If you are a California resident, see Section 12 for how to limit this.

We may disclose information if required to comply with applicable law, legal process, or a valid governmental request; however, because ScreenBreathe does not maintain a dedicated server containing your locally stored App data, we generally do not possess that local data.

7. Data retention and deletion

Your Google email address, screen-time information, and App preferences maintained by ScreenBreathe are stored locally and remain on your device until you sign out, clear or delete the relevant data using App or Android settings, or uninstall the App. Some information may remain in device backups controlled by you, Google, or your device manufacturer, subject to their respective policies.

ScreenBreathe does not create or maintain a separate server-side ScreenBreathe account. Signing out or deleting local App data does not delete your Google Account. You can manage or revoke ScreenBreathe's Google Account access from your Google Account security settings, and you can revoke Accessibility Service or overlay permissions at any time from Android's Accessibility or "apps that can appear on top" settings. Subscription cancellation and purchase history are managed through Google Play and are subject to Google's retention practices. Data processed independently by Google or AdMob must be managed using Google's privacy controls.

8. Security

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the nature of the App, including relying on Android's application storage protections and secure Google services for authentication, advertising, and payments. No electronic storage or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for keeping your device and Google Account secure.

9. Parental Control Mode and children's privacy

ScreenBreathe is intended for use by users aged 13 and older, and the App account holder (the person who signs in and configures the App) must meet this age requirement. ScreenBreathe is not directed to children under 13 as its primary audience.

ScreenBreathe's Parental Control Mode is a feature through which a parent or legal guardian creates and configures a "Kids Profile" on a device, including choosing which apps to block using the Ghost Screen overlay. The child using that device profile does not create their own account, does not sign in with Google, and does not directly provide personal information to ScreenBreathe. All configuration (blocked apps, strictness level, goals) is set by the parent or guardian, who is responsible for the profile and for supervising its use.

We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information directly through ScreenBreathe outside of a parent-configured Kids Profile, contact us so that we can take appropriate action.

Users who are under the age at which they may independently consent to data processing in their country should use the App only with authorization from a parent or legal guardian. Advertising shown within the App is subject to Google's age-related settings and policies, and we recommend parents configure Google's Ads Settings and Family Link controls where a Kids Profile is used.

10. International processing

Google may process information on servers located outside your state, province, or country. Data-protection laws in those locations may differ from those where you live. Google describes its international data practices and safeguards in its privacy policies.

11. Third-party links and services

The App or advertisements may contain links to third-party websites, applications, or services that we do not operate. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies. We encourage you to review those policies before providing information.

12. Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning your personal information under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or U.S. state privacy laws, including rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, withdraw consent, or (in California and similar states) opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as described in Section 6. Because ScreenBreathe's App data is stored locally, you can exercise many of these controls directly by:
